At the Future Image Technology Communication conference held at Beijing, Xiaomi reveals the specifications of the unprecedented 64MP Quad-camera which happens to be a Samsung sensor. The camera will be introduced with a Redmi phone but there is no current date for the launch.
Lin Bin, Xiaomi President confirms that the sensor is Samsung’s 64MP GW1 sensor. The GW1 uses a 1/1.7 inch ultra large bottom sensor (1.6um large pixel size) and it also support 4-in-1 pixel binning technology which is 34% larger their than precious generation of 48MP. The pixel-isolated ISOCELL PLUS technology guarantees high colour production and increases its sensitivity by 15% Additionally, the camera also supports hybrid 3D HDR for better and wider range for images.
Meanwhile, the conference only concentrated on the 64MP camera. Absolutely, nothing was said about the Xiaomi device that will use the camera whether is the upcoming Redmi or other devices.
