After MediaTek announced its increase in financial result in a press conference for H1 2019, the company reported a 16.8% monthly increase in revenue and 1.8% on a yearly basis. Along the line, the Taiwanese company also revealed some details about its coming 5G SoC.
Cai Lixing, MediaTek CEO said the company will deliver the samples of its 5G SoC with Helio M70 modem in Q3 2019 and mass production of the chip will begin in Q1 2020, right in time for the 5G revolution.
The chipset name has not been revealed and we know the modem will be built in chipset and of course, will have ARM architecture with Cortex-A77 CPU and Mali-G77 GPU.
However, the 5G ready chipset will support Sub-6 GHz frequency and other specifications includes third generation AI processing engine, 4k 60fps video recording and camera support of up to 80 MP.
MediaTek gaming platforms (Helio G90 and G90T) plus the new 5G chipset have the potential to make the company come back to its former place.
