When we are yet to make use of the 5G available network around the world, Huawei Labs in Ottawa in Canada are already looking for more research and development for 6G network technology.
Moreover, research and development of major technologies usually starts many years before they actually hit the market.
Huawei Labs in Ottawa is an advanced R&D center. Huawei is the world’s leading 5G company with its core research and development spanning over a decade. The company is working with 13 universities and other research institutions to develop new technologies. According to Ren Zhengfei, the company founder, reveals that the company’s investment is at least a few billion dollars.
The company tentative 6G network plan shows there will be no real 6G technology before 2030. Huawei released $600 million for research on 5G technologies and standards from 2019 and it also invested another $1.4 billion in 2016 taking its total investment in 5G to $2 billion. This has made Huawei to have more 5G commitment than most American and European companies.
