GBWhatsapp, a popular third party WhatsApp client has officially announced the shut down of its service.
GBWhatsapp is popularly known for the additional features the regular or original WhatsApp doesn’t provide, such as masking last seen, hiding online status, hiding view status when watching WhatsApp status, the fonts and themes, and many more.
GBWhatsapp rose to fame after the fall of its rival, WhatsApp+ over policy violations of the original WhatsApp. Recently, WhatsApp has come up again to combat GBWhatsapp by temporary banning users who uses GBWhatsapp but the developers still managed to create fix that would evade the ban.
But it was shocking as GBWhatsapp made an official announcement on their Telegram handle to shut down its service with no further developments expected. It seems they may have faced a lot of warnings, legal copyright infringement lawsuits and threats from WhatsApp, but however, the shut down statement says:
“GBWhatsApp Shuts Down. We are really sorry to announce that we have completely stopped the development of GBWhatsApp. It was a great time with all you people.
Sorry for the Inconvenience. Hence we have Closed all the Site, Social Accounts and Everything. There will be no further Development.
Nevertheless, the latest version of GBWhatsApp released on June 20, 2019, as an anti-ban version update. Existing or current users can continue using it till the end of August when the app is set to expire due to lack of updates which can also bring about numerous bugs.
So, I advice you to switch to the official WhatsApp app for now and wait for other developers to bring up another WhatsApp client.
